Welcome to Tom 'n' Alan's WebSite

Tom Nisbet and Alan McQueen both like to keep things simple - so it came as no surprise that they chose "Tom ‘n’ Alan" as their 'stage name'!

Tom and Alan met while they were singing with "The Podlies" - an Eyemouth singing group who raised thousands of pounds for charity over more than three decades. When "The Podlies" finally sang their farewell song in May 2019, Tom and Alan decided to carry on singing as a duo and to continue raising money for charity.

But, although they were 'born' of "The Podlies", the music and songs that they now choose to sing is different.

There is still an underlying core of traditional Scottish / Sea-Faring songs, but they have added a wider and more esoteric range of songs, all selected for one reason - Tom and Alan both like them! So, alongside old favourites like 'Mingulay Boat Song' and 'Trawling Trade', you can now expect to hear songs from The Everly Brothers, or The Eagles; or Country and Western songs like 'Remember The Alamo' and 'Seven Spanish Angels'; or even hits from the Sixties - like 'Teenager in Love' or 'Hi-Ho, Silver Lining'!

Basically, 'Tom ‘n’ Alan' offer a musical mix that provides variety and the opportunity for lots of fun: Sometimes enjoying a quiet, reflective moment thinking of the plight of Irish emigrants going to America ('My Grandfather's Immigrant Eyes'); sometimes reminiscing about your youth as you bounce in your chair joining in with 'Summer of '69'!

They have found major advantages to this approach because it allows them to ‘tailor’ their concerts more easily to different audiences. Contact them - and experience it for yourself!
